Select Torrance

On June 21, Consul General Sone attended Select Torrance hosted by the City of Torrance. Select Torrance is an event related to the SelectUSA Investment Summit and focused on investment in Torrance. This was the first time this event was held, and Consul General Sone gave opening remarks, followed by George Chen, the Mayor of Torrance
In his remarks, Consul General Sone noted that Japan continues to be the largest investor in Southern California and Los Angeles County in the 2024 California Foreign Direct Investment Report, released on June 20. He also noted the strong economic and cultural ties between Torrance and Japan, with many Japanese companies located in Torrance and the 50th anniversary of the sister city relationship with Kashiwa City in Chiba Prefecture, and expressed hope for further development of these ties.
