Next Generation Leaders Event: Business Leaders Reflect on their Journeys
On October 22, the Consulate General of Japan and the LA Next Generation Japanese American Leaders Initiative held an event at the Toshizo Watanabe Culinary Cultural Center of the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center– “Career Success and the Power of Connection: Business Leaders Reflect on their Journeys.” Guests included Initiative members, Japan Business Association Next Generation Forum members, and representatives of Little Tokyo businesses.
The program featured panelists Shinichi Fujinami (Head of Corporate Banking, Division of the Americas (U.S. West)/ MUFG Bank), Kenyon Mayeda (Chief Impact Officer/ Japanese American National Museum), and Courtney Taira (President/ IFG Restaurant Group). They discussed how relationship-building and pivotal connections impacted their professional journeys.
Moderator Miki Reynolds, Head of Programs at Slauson & Co., facilitated the conversation around a range of topics including personal stories, cultural and gender dynamics, leveraging community, and advice for networking and career advancement.
The reception that followed featured sake tasting from beverage sponsors Mutual Trading and Takara USA and Japanese appetizers.
