KAKEHASHI - LA Armenian American Young Leaders Delegation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan sponsored five Armenian American young leaders nominated by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church on a visit to Japan from October 22-29 through the KAKEHASHI Project. The delegation visited Tokyo and the Kansai region to learn about Japanese traditional culture and contemporary society, including sites significant in Japan-Armenia relations such as the Shibusawa Memorial Museum and the gravesite of Diana Apcar. They also engaged in discussions with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Embassy of Armenia in Japan. 
Led by Diocesan Program Director Diran Avagyan, the delegation members included Mike Dermendjian, Nareg Ghookasian, Candace Karasarkisian, Ani Nalbandian, and Delilah Shahbazian.

KAKEHASHI PROJECT
Initiated by former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and administered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the project aims to promote people-to-people exchanges between Japan and North America and to promote mutual trust and understanding to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation and to encourage further understanding of Japan.
