"Importance of Life" Special Talk at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles

On Sunday October 15th, the Consulate was honored to co-host the “Importance of Life” special talk at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles. In the program, speaker & hero Seietsu Sato described the harrowing conditions he faced in the aftermath of Tohoku’s 3.11 Earthquake and Tsunami as a member of the Kesennuma Motoyoshi Integrated Firefighting Administration. Despite the deeply tragic loss of his own wife in the disaster, he was able to push on and save the lives of thousands of people.
Mr. Sato was accompanied in translations by Professor Noriko Toyoda of Niigata University of Health and Welfare. The audience also heard a special presentation from Senior Lecturer in Japanese at Baylor University, Yuko Prefume.
Afterwards, guests were able to enjoy a special tasting of Japanese food provided by JETRO Los Angeles!
