Conferment Ceremony of Foreign Minister’s Commendation for Teachers of Japanese in Southern California (TJSC)
On Aug. 1, 2024 (JST), the Government of Japan announced the recipients of its 2024 Foreign Minister’s Commendation. From the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, the organization ‘Teachers of Japanese in Southern California’ was awarded.
On Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, Teachers of Japanese in Southern California was presented the Foreign Minister’s Commendation.
The Foreign Minister's Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups for outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contribution to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries. The Commendation also aims to engage the understanding and support of the Japanese public for these activities.
The following are the Teachers of Japanese in Southern California‘s contributions to the Japan-US relationship that have resulted in its being awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation:
Since its establishment in 1984, Teachers of Japanese in Southern California (TJSC) has worked to improve Japanese language education in Southern California. In addition to networking and information sharing among Japanese language teachers, TJSC organizes workshops and seminars on Japanese language teaching methods, introduces teaching materials and shares regional news through newsletters. TJSC is the only organization in Southern California that supports Japanese language teachers at all levels, including two-year and four-year colleges, high schools, junior high schools, elementary schools, Japanese language schools, and Japanese weekend schools.
Teachers of Japanese in Southern California has been awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation in recognition of its contribution to mutual understanding between Japan and the US.
