1st Valley Asian Cultural Festival Held

On Saturday, May 7, the 1st Valley Asian Cultural Festival organized by the West Valley Warner Center Chamber of Commerce was held at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. The festival introduced different Asian cultures through dance, music, food, art and other offerings.
The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles set up an booth at the festival and provided information about its affiliated programs such as the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) and the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho, or MEXT) Scholarship program. In addition, the consulate booth distributed Niponica magazine that introduce modern Japan, tourism brochures, and pamphlets supplied by the city of Nagoya, a sister city of the city of Los Angeles, to showcase Japanese culture and the attractive features of Japan’s different regions.
The festival stage featured an introduction of Japanese culture through a samurai performance, consisting of a martial arts demonstration, by Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu Los Angeles chapter.
