SUSHI & SAKE FOR WILDFIRE RELIEF EVENT

2025/6/17
On June 9, the Japanese Restaurant Association of America (JRA) hosted the “Sushi & Sake for Wildfire Relief” charity event at JAPAN HOUSE in cooperation with the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles, and the JETRO Los Angeles Office.

This event is a collaborative effort by Japanese restaurants and food-related companies, aiming to share the rich culture of Japanese cuisine while expanding a circle of warm-hearted support for those affected. All proceeds will be donated to the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund to support those affected by the wildfires.

After opening remarks by JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles President Yuko Kaifu, JETRO Los Angeles Chief Executive Director Akira Kajita, and JRA President Shinji Kugita, Consul General Sone gave remarks expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers. He emphasized that the consulate will continue to collaborate with Japanese companies, local governments, and economic organizations in their efforts to cooperate and collaborate in recovery and rebuilding. In addition, he noted that the consulate will continue its efforts to promote Japanese food through the efforts of a U.S. export support platform. After the remarks, Consul General Sone gave a toast.

At the event, Japanese restaurants and food manufacturers served a variety of Japanese dishes such as yakitori (Japanese grilled chicken skewers), okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), and katsu (pork cutlet) sandwiches. In addition, Japanese sake and beverages carefully selected by Japanese food trading companies and beverage manufacturers were served.
