Nikkei Wine Summit 2024

On June 29, Consul General Sone and Mrs. Sone joined the Nikkei Wine Summit 2024 – American Wine with Japanese Soul. Hosted by the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC), the summit was attended by many wine winemakers, proprietors, and wine professionals of the Nikkei Wine & Vine Group and showcased the Nikkei community’s rich history in the wine industry that spans over 100 years.
 
JACCC President & CEO Patricia Wyatt gave welcoming greetings followed by opening remarks from Consul General Sone. In his remarks, Consul General Sone noted how many Nikkei have helped shape the wine industry in California and looked forward to the summit promoting awareness of their contributions. The summit featured panel discussions about the legacy of Kanaye Nagasawa, the “Grape King” of California who contributed to the Nikkei wine industry, and panelists shared their own wineries’ efforts and histories. The event concluded with a grand tasting with 20+ wineries as donors/participants.
