Consul General Muto attended 1st Annual Nikkei Celebration in Boyle Heights

On August 7th, Consul General Muto attended the 1st Annual Nikkei Celebration in Boyle Heights, which was co-organized by Boyle Heights Community Partners and Little Tokyo Historical Society. The main theme of the event was to celebrate the designation of Otomisan Restaurant (one of the oldest continuously operating Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles, which started in 1956 in Boyle Heights) as Historic Cultural Monument No. 1250 by the City of Los Angeles.  Consul General Muto, in his speech, commended Boyle Heights Community Partners for their hard work to nominate the Otomisan restaurant and property as a Historic-Cultural Monument. During the event, he visited Otomisan Restaurant and learned about the history of the restaurant from the restaurant owner Yayoi Watanabe.
