LA Next Generation Japanese American Leaders – Year Two Launch Event

On October 11, Consul General Sone hosted a reception at the Toshizo Watanabe Culinary Cultural Center to launch the second year of the LA Next Generation Japanese American Leaders Initiative. The event included introductions of the members of the recently formed business, entertainment, politics, and women & diversity subcommittees. Community leaders of the Japanese American community as well as guests of the Japan Business Association of Southern California (JBA) were also in attendance.

In his remarks, Consul General Sone emphasized his commitment to working with local community organizations to jointly support next generation leaders, and the Initiative’s second year focusing on developing partnerships with Japanese counterpart organizations to facilitate exchanges between young leaders of both countries. He expressed his gratitude towards the community leaders, JBA guests, and young leaders in attendance, and his hopes for all to continue working together for the Initiative’s future sustainability.

The co-chairs of each subcommittee also provided brief introductions of their members and their goals and vision for the coming year. Throughout the year, each subcommittee will hold events focused on their sector area and will develop relations with counterpart organizations in Japan.
