Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce & Japanese Business Association 25th Annual Grand Mixer

2024/10/3
On October 1, Consul General Sone gave opening remarks at the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) & Japan Business Association (JBA) 25th Annual Grand Mixer held at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel. He praised JBA and TACC’s close relationship and looked forward to Japanese companies and the Torrance community collaborating even more in technological innovations to achieve new initiatives, including the transition to clean energy.

Consul General Sone also noted the strong cultural ties between Japan and Torrance. Earlier that day, Torrance signed a Friendship City Agreement with Oshu in Iwate, the hometown of Shohei Otani. This agreement marks Torrance’s second Friendship City designation with a Japanese city, following a partnership with Bizen City in Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

Several city and government officials from Torrance and Japan joined in the sake barrel opening ceremony called “kagamiwari,” including Consul General Sone, the City of Oshu, Japan Mayor Jun Kuranari, and the City of Torrance Mayor George Chen, as well as JBA and TACC.
