ITS World Congress 2022
2022/9/29
The ITS World Congress 2022, the premier event for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) around the world, was held September 18-22 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Since the first ITS World Congress in 1994, it has alternated in location amongst Europe, the Americas and the Asia Pacific. This time held in Los Angeles, the event explored the theme of “Transformation by Transportation” with more than 6,000 industry professionals from 64 countries in attendance. Over the course of the week, ITS World Congress hosted more than 180 educational sessions and panels where experts discussed priority issues within the transportation space, such as safety, equitable mobility, decarbonization, and the importance of digital infrastructure.
Consul General Sone attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the ITS Japan Pavilion together with Mr.Yuji Yamamoto and Mr.Ichiro Tsukada - members of Parliament promoting Japan’s ITS from the Liberal Democratic Party - and also visited Japanese booth exhibitors.
This year’s ITS Japan Pavilion showcased exhibits by 17 Japanese ICT companies. The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles also participated in the booth to highlight recent contributions and success of Japanese companies in Southern California with videos (https://www.la.us.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_ja/newvideorelease.html) and display panels. The ITS Japan Pavilion successfully attracted 760 visitors in total.
A “Stamp Rally” game was carried out in the ITS Japan Pavilion to attract more visitors. All the visitors who joined the game received prizes such as Japanese toys sponsored by BANDAI NAMCO TOYS & COLLECTIVLES AMERICA INC. (BNTCA).
