California-Japan Sister Cities Spring Workshop Held
2022/7/7
On June 24, 2022, the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, the California-Japan Sister Cities Network (CJSCN), and the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco co-hosted the online 2022 California-Japan Sister Cities Spring Workshop.
Consul General of Japan in San Francisco KAWAMURA Hiroshi, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles MUTO Akira, and CJSCN President Meg Mizutani each gave welcome remarks. This was then followed by greetings from CJSCN sponsor companies and remarks from Sister Cities International Southern California’s State Coordinator Pat Fallin. California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis also sent a video message to the online workshop.
About 100 participants attended, including local government representatives and sister-city officials from across the State of California as well as Japan. Attendees deepened sister-city ties between Japan and California through the workshop, which was themed, “Reignite the Sister City Community!” Attendees engaged in lively discussions about their experiences and ideas for fundraising efforts towards sister-city activities, deepening connections with each other in the process.
The CJSCN workshops, which aim to establish networks among sister-city officials in California, have been held twice a year by CJSCN and the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
