6th “Japan Contents Pitch” Event Held

On June 12, the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, along with JETRO Los Angeles and United Talent Agency (UTA), co-hosted the 6th Japan Contents Pitch event.
Consul General Sone participated via video message and gave a welcome speech. In his remarks, he noted that international interest in Japanese productions continues to grow and that he had been looking forward to sharing Japanese content with the participants. Mr. Masi Oka, an adviser to the event, was joined by Fuji TV, TV Asahi, TV Tokyo, and Yomiuri TV to pitch four Japanese TV dramas for adaptation in the U.S. market. Around 20 participants joined the pitch event, including buyers and producers currently working onproductions for major streaming and network broadcasters..
As the U.S. content industry faces an ever-increasing demand for captivating and compelling stories, desire for remakes of non-US content is on the rise.
Since 2019, the Consulate General of Japan has hosted four of these pitch events to date.
