2025/3/19
On March 6, Consul General Sone hosted an event at the official residence featuring latest updates from the LA Next Generation Japanese American Leaders Initiative’s business, entertainment, politics, and women & diversity subcommittees and a presentation by Initiative members who had visited Japan in Fall 2024 on the KAKEHASHI Project. Event guests included members of the Japan Business Association’s Next Generation Forum and other community supporters.

The delegation presentation recounted the highlights of the visit to Tokyo and Fukuoka and meetings with national elected officials including Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Arfiya Eri and Representatives Taro Kono and Karen Makishima of the National Diet of Japan. The delegation also met with Councilmember Risa Kamio of Setagaya City along with other Tokyo area councilmembers, and held meetings with other government representatives, as well as leaders of non-profits, academia, and business.  The delegation members included the following (subcommittees in parantheses): Kaitlyn Chu (entertainment), Kevin Keizuchi (business), Justin Kawaguchi (business), and Candice Shikai (women & diversity).

The subcommittees updates included highlights of the Initiative events and individual activities of members engaging with Japanese counterparts throughout the past year, as well as priorities and visions for the future.

After the presentation, attendees enjoyed a networking reception.
