Takeda Thousand Oaks Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
2025/10/10
On October 1, Deputy Consul General Kamitani participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of an expansion at their Thousand Oaks facility.
The facility expansion, which was completed in the summer of 2025, will enhance production capacity for treatments of the rare disease “Hunter Syndrome”.
Takeda’s Thousand Oaks has been a part of the community for over 30 years and is engaging with the production of treatments for rare diseases and bleeding disorders. In the ceremony, Takeda highlighted its strong ties with the local community, including working with community organizations to advance equitable access to health care and to support families facing pediatric cancer. Takeda also collaborates with local schools and colleges, including Moorpark College, to promote STEM Education.
Deputy Consul General Kamitani stated in her remarks that she was truly pleased to see Takeda Pharmaceutical actively expanding its business in the United States, the world’s largest pharmaceutical market. She noted that Japan and the U.S. are important partners in the pharmaceutical sector, and promoting economic cooperation and investment between the two countries yields strategic benefits for both. She also expressed that that the consulate and Japanese government will continue to support such investments by Japanese pharmaceutical companies.
Remarks were also given by Takeda Global Manufacturing & Supply Officer Mr. Thomas Wozniewski, California GO-Biz Associate Deputy Director of Industry Engagement and Development Ms. Maria Onrato, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell, and Thousand Oaks City Mayor David Newman. At the end of the ceremony, Ms. Kristin McKay, President of “Project Alive”, gave a presentation on the Hunter syndrome community and the life changing impact of Takeda’s treatments.
After the presentation, participants toured the new manufacturing facility, and the event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Takeda executives and distinguished guests.
