The 10th U.S.-Japan Alliance Series Held

RAND, JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles and Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles hosted The U.S.-Japan Alliance Series, Year X “The U.S.-Japan Alliance Realizing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific” on March 1st, 2024. 

At the Diplomatic Roundtable, Ms. Emily Cloke, British Consul General in Los Angeles, Mr. Francis Maynard S. Maleon, Consul and Head, Political & Economic Section, Philippine Consulate General (Los Angeles) , Mr. Zaib Shaikh, Canadian Consul General of Los Angeles and Mr. Kenko Sone, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles discussed how each country is responding to FOIP and how countries in the region are working together.

In the morning session Dr. Ken Jimbo, Professor of International Relations, Keio University, Mr. Christopher Johnstone, Senior Adviser and Japan Chair, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Ms. Kristen Gunness, Senior Policy Researcher from RAND talked about the security dimensions of FOIPIn the afternoon,  Dr. Howard Shatz: Senior Economist from RAND, Ms. Shihoko Goto, Director, Asia Program; Director for Geoeconomics and Indo-Pacific Enterprise from Wilson Center,  Mr. Kunihiko Shinoda, Professor, Executive Advisor (GRIPS Alliance) from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) shared their opinions on the economic dimensions of FOIP
