On October 14, Consul General Sone participated in a Tottori Prefecture tourism promotion event held at Japan House Los Angeles.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Sone noted the growing tourism exchange between Japan and the United States and highlighted the attractiveness of Tottori Prefecture, which is only a few hours away from popular tourist destinations in Western Japan, such as Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. Tottori Prefecture Governor Hirai and other Tottori Prefecture officials participated in this event to promote tourism to the prefecture. The event introduced activities unique to Tottori Prefecture, such as taking camel rides at its famous sand dunes to exploring the worlds of “GeGeGe no Kitaro” and “Detective Conan,” popular anime with roots in Tottori Prefecture. The reception also showcased Tottori Prefecture’s regional food specialties, including delicious 20th Century Asian Pears, locally produced sake, snow crab from its fishing ports, and more.
