In collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, JX (Japan Crossover), the community hub for Japanese diaspora talent and industry leaders within entertainment, lifestyle, and culture, held JX’24 on March 5 at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles.

The event featured a panel conversation on “Japanese Entertainment in Hollywood” moderated by journalist Jen Yamato (former reporter/critic at the Los Angeles Times and co-host of the podcast “Asian Enough”), discussing the rising popularity of Japanese entertainment in the U.S., keys to building groundbreaking creative and technological bridges to connect content, artists and audiences internationally, and what the future holds for new and expansive collaborations between the U.S. and Japanese entertainment industries. Panelists included President David Jesteadt of GKIDS (distributor of Studio Ghibli films including Academy Award winner “The Boy and the Heron”) and Senior Vice President and Head of Sony Innovation Studios (SIS), Masaki Nakayama.

JX’24 also presented awards to significant contributors bridging the U.S. and Japan in entertainment and culture. The Global Achievement Award in Music was presented to Asobi System’s ATARASHII GAKKO! and the Community Impact Award to JAPANGELES.

The program also included a special performance by world-renowned guitarist Shota Nakama, producer of “Sonic Symphony.” A reception party with music, DJs, and refreshments followed the program, showcasing Japanese companies and brands.
