2022/5/23
On Friday, May 13, the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles and California-Japan Sister Cities Network (CJSCN) co-hosted the California-Japan Sister Cities 2022 Spring Networking Event at Consul General MUTO Akira’s Official Residence.
After Consul General Muto and CJSCN President Megumi Mizutani gave greetings, Los Angeles City Council Member and Sister Cities International Board Member Joe Buscaino and President of Sister Cities International Southern California Chapter Anthony Al-Jaime offered congratulatory remarks.
The event, aimed at providing networking opportunities between sister cities-related officials in California, was held as part of California-Japan Sister Cities Network workshops, which are organized twice a year by CJSCN and the Consulates-General of Japan in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Within this framework, the latest event was the first to be held in-person since the breakout of the pandemic.
Invitees included sister cities-related officials from Southern California. Out of 38 cities in sister city or friendship relationships with Japan, a total of 40 officials from 18 cities attended the event, deepening ties with each other at the event, which carried the theme, “Reignite the Sister City Community!”
During group discussions, different cities shared information on their exchange programs and other offerings. Attendees engaged in lively discussions about their cities’ initiatives, learning from each other while exchanging ideas and deepening ties.
