Statement on the Passing of Secretary Norman Y. Mineta

The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles extends its heartfelt sympathies to family members, friends, and supporters of Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, on the news of his passing. We are deeply saddened by the news and honor his dedicated commitment to enhancing U.S.-Japan relations during his long and distinguished life. A legend in the Japanese American community, he will continue to inspire future generations through his tremendous achievements as a public official at the highest levels of the U.S. government and as a leader in organizations such as the Japanese American National Museum and U.S.-Japan Council. It is now our responsibility to carry on Secretary Mineta’s legacy.
