Sake Promotion Seminar co-hosted with Tippsy Inc.

2021/4/23
On March 27th, the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles and a sake e-commerce company, Tippsy Inc., jointly held a Sake Seminar. At the event, Ms. Sachiko Miyagi of Tippsy Inc. gave an online lecture on sake introducing a set of 3 bottles of sake specially sold by Tippsy Inc. In her lecture, Ms. Miyagi explained the history and ingredients of sake, and the differences and characteristics of "Ginjo" and "Junmai," which are often heard in restaurants but not widely understood yet. In particular, that was a beneficial event even for the daily life that ingredients and rice polishing rate are different between “Ginjo” and “Junmai”, resulting in the distinction of fragrance and flavor.

Since the sake from Tohoku region was used in the seminar, and also this year is the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, Ms. Miyagi talked about the devastation from the earthquake at that time, as well as the current reconstruction situation in the Tohoku region. After the seminar, participants had an active communication with Ms. Miyagi during a question and answer session.

The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles will continue to promote Japanese food culture, including sake.
