On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles, MUTO Akira, delivered remarks during the webinar: “Japan and COVID-19:Impact and Response,” an event jointly organized by Japan America Society of Southern California (JASSC) and World Trade Center Los Angeles. During his remarks, he explained the Japanese response on COVID-19, including the Japanese government’s declaration of state of emergency, its measures to counter clusters of COVID-19 outbreaks, and advances in therapeutic medicine to treat COVID-19. He also introduced the activities of several Japanese companies in the United States making great contributions to their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the webinar, Mr. SAEKI Norihiko, Executive Director of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Los Angeles, gave a presentation on the current situation of Japanese companies in the United States and their response to the COVID-19 situation.
