The Los Angeles Angels hosted Japan Day Presented by Japan Airlines on Saturday, July 27 at the State College parking lot of Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. The event featured performances and booths presenting both traditional and modern aspects of Japan and Japanese culture.
Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Otani made a brief stage appearance, offering a greeting to fans and signing a baseball bat before heading back to batting practice.
Japan Day also featured cultural booths that introduced ikebana flower arrangement, calligraphy and origami. The Consulate General of Japan set up its own booth at Japan Day as well, distributing pamphlets on the JET Program and MEXT government scholarships as well as information about travel in Japan. Approximately 6,000 people are said to have attended Japan Day, experiencing all things Japanese during their time there!
