Fall 2015 Decoration Conferred on Mr. Kelly Moeur

On November 3rd, 2015, the Government of Japan announced the recipients of its Fall 2015 Decorations and within our jurisdiction, Mr. Kelly Moeur, Honorary Consul General of Phoenix was awarded.

Mr. Moeur continues to contribute greatly to the Japanese American community in Arizona as Honorary Consul General, a post he has been dedicated to for over 10 years. He is also very well-known as a Japanese language educator, teaching at Arizona State University and Mesa Community College, in addition to serving as Principal at Arizona Gakuen, a Japanese language school, since its inception. Mr. Moeur has also actively participated in the promotion of the Japanese culture in Arizona such as being involved in the Arizona Matsuri Steering Committee since its beginning. He has also served as President for the Phoenix Japan America Society and the Arizona Association of Teachers of Japanese.

The Conferment Ceremony for Mr. Moeur was held on November 19th, 2015 at 2 P.M. at the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, Arizona and was attended by approximately 40 guests, including Mr. Moeur’s family and friends. After the Ceremony, a reception was held, which was enjoyed by all the guests.
