19th Annual VerdeXchange VX2026 Green Marketmakers Conference

The 19th VerdeXchange VX2026 Green Marketmakers Conference was held by the environmental think tank VerdeXchange on May 31 – June 3, 2026. The conference featured 40+ panels on a variety of topics with clean tech entrepreneurs, energy and water companies, advanced vehicle manufacturers, and public policymakers.
 
The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles has been an active supporter of the VerdeXchange Conference for nearly 20 years since its inception in 2008. On May 31, Consul General Murota co-hosted the annual kick-off VIP reception and panel discussion at the Consul General’s Official Residence. Approximately 200 attendees joined, including Representative Mike Levin, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, CPUC Commissioner Christine Harada and more. Guests from Japan in various fields also attended, including New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) Chairman Tamotsu Saito.
 
On June 1, Consul General Murota took the stage at the “Trade in a New World: Transition to a New Industrial Economy” and joined a panel discussion with the Consul Generals of Canada, Germany, and India to identify the central challenges in transitioning the global economy to tackle climate change, explore policy and market solutions, and consider how Los Angeles can contribute to this transformation.
 
Japanese companies, NEDO, and Japan Hydrogen Forum (JH2F) had exhibits at the reception and conference and showcased their sustainable innovations, including technology to develop hydrogen infrastructure in the U.S. and facilitate decarbonization.
