The 18th Annual All-USA High School Japanese Speech Contest
2022/6/21
On Sunday, June 5th, the All-USA High School Japanese Speech Contest was held online. The event was hosted by the Japanese Language Scholarship Foundation with the support of Japan Foundation Los Angeles and the Consulate-General of Japan in LA.
This contest provides opportunities for high school students studying Japanese language in the United States (whose native language is not Japanese) to make presentations in Japanese and to inspire others to improve their proficiency in Japanese. It is also hoped that the contest will encourage students to further their understanding of Japan, its people, and its culture.
Each participant was carefully pre-selected and recommended by organizers of regional speech contests. In total, 11 contestants participated from states such as Texas, California, Florida and New York.
