18th Annual VerdeXchange VX2025 Green Marketmakers Conference

The 18th VerdeXchange VX2025 Green Marketmakers Conference was held by the environmental think tank VerdeXchange on April 6-9, 2025. The conference featured 40+ panels on a variety of topics with clean tech entrepreneurs, energy and water companies, advanced vehicle manufacturers, and public policymakers.
The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles has been an active supporter of the VerdeXchange Conference since its inception in 2008. On April 6, Consul General Sone co-hosted the annual kick-off VIP reception and panel discussion. There were around 200 attendees, including Representative Laura Friedman, California State Senator Josh Becker, and Torrance City Mayor George Chen. Guests from Japan in various fields also joined, including New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) Chairman Tamotsu Saito.
On April 7, two Japanese starts ups, Asuene and Cool Innovation, participated in the “Pitch Session: LAEDC/WTC-LA International Cleantech Companies”. Consul General Sone then took the stage at the “WTC-LA Consular Panel: Supply Chains Going Forward” and participated in a panel discussion on international trade with the Consul General of Finland, the Consul General of Germany, and a Canadian international law firm.
Japanese companies, NEDO, and Japan Hydrogen Forum (JH2F), had exhibits at the reception and conference, showcasing their technology and work in developing hydrogen infrastructure in the US to facilitate decarbonization.
