17th Annual VerdeXchange VX2024 Green Marketmakers Conference

The 17th VerdeXchange VX2024 Green Marketmakers Conference was held on May 12-15, and was attended by many U.S. government officials, environmental experts, and Japanese companies. The conference was hosted by environmental think-tank VerdeXchange and featured 40+ panels with clean tech entrepreneurs, energy and water companies, advanced vehicle manufacturers, and public policymakers.
 
The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles has been an active supporter of the VerdeXchange Conference since its inception in 2008. On May 12, Consul General Sone co-hosted the annual kick-off VIP reception and panel discussion. There were 150+ attendees, including California State Senator Josh Newman, California State Assemblymember Laura Friedman, and Pasadena City Councilmember Rick Cole. Guests from Japan in various fields also joined, including New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) Chairman Tomatsu Saito and Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum Executive Director Sadayuki Tsuchiya.
 
On Monday, May 13, four Japanese starts up participated in the “Pitch Session: LAEDC/WTC-LA International Cleantech Companies” and received feedback from Consul General Sone, as well as from the Consul Generals of Australia, Finland, Germany, and the Delegate General of Quebec. 
 
Japanese companies and the Japan Hydrogen Forum had exhibits at the reception and conference, showcasing their technology and work in developing hydrogen infrastructure in the US to facilitate decarbonization.
