Embassy of Japan Seeks Entries for New Year's Card Contest

Get ready for the coming Year of the Monkey by entering the sixth annual New Year's Card Contest held by the Japan Information and Culture Center at the Embassy of Japan, Washington, D.C.
 
Designs must include either a monkey and/or the kanji for monkey found on the Zodiac animal calendar.
 
The deadline to enter is December 14.

Messages of Sympathy After San Bernardino Shootings

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a message to U.S. President Barack Obama expressing his condolences and sympathy following the terrorist incident in San Bernardino, CA on Dec. 2. Prime Minister Abe condemned the incident and stated that Japan will continue to cooperate with the United States and the international community to fight terrorism.
 
Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida also sent a message to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

Calling All Haiku Poets in Arizona!

 

Calling all prospective poets to join the 2nd Annual Haiku Expo 2016 poetry contest! Entry is free and open to residents of Arizona. All children, students and adults are encouraged to submit up to 3 Arizona inspired Haiku poems. The submission deadline is January 31, 2016 midnight.

The Haiku expo will be held as part of the Arizona Matsuri, scheduled for Feb. 27-28 in downtown Phoenix, AZ.
