Prime Minister Noda Visits U.S.
Prime Minister Noda met with President Obama on April 30. They announced a joint statement on a shared vision for the future, outlining initiatives on security, trade and investment, energy cooperation, and people-to-people connections.

MEXT Scholarships! 
2010 Spring Kunsho Applications are now available for MEXT Research, Undergraduate, and Special Training College Scholarships.  These are special opportunities for graduate students and high school graduates.  Scholarship benefits include travel and registration fees, as well as a monthly stipend.  U.S. citizens living or studying in Southern California and Arizona are welcome to send in applications by June 13, 2012. Manga Award Applications
Call for applications now through June 15. This award honors manga artists who are contributing to the development of manga culture in the world.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs founded the International MANGA Awards to expand international exchange and mutual understanding through manga culture.   Download the guidelines here:

Taiko at the Huntington
 
In celebration of the Japanese Garden's 100 year anniversary, there will be a family program featuring drumming by the Taiko Center of Los Angeles and a Japanese children's story at the Huntington's Japanese garden on June 16 at 9:30 am.

Government Decorations

The Government of Japan has announced the recipients of its Spring 2012 Decorations. Roosevelt High School Sakura Art Exhibition
2010 Spring Kunsho
An exhibition of Roosevelt High School's cherry blossom art is now on view at the IGM Gallery at the USC Institute for Genetic Medicine. The art project was initiated by the Children's Art Committee of the Los Angeles Nagoya Sister City Affiliation (LANSCA) to commemorate the Japan-U.S. Cherry Blossom Centennial.
