In the wake of the unprecedented devastation of the Great East Japan Earthquake last March, the tremendous support we received from all over the world made us realize the strong bond between Japan and the rest of the world. I would like to express my deepest gratitude especially to all of you from Southern California and Arizona.

Overcoming Disaster -Arigato from Japan Concert
On March 2 there will be a free concert of music from the Tohoku region featuring Ondekoza and other performers. The event will be at the Ahmanson Theatre in the Music Center. The concert is in response to the outpouring of kindness shown following the March 11 earthquake disaster in Japan last year.

Leadership Delegation

Ten Japanese American leaders from across the country will travel to Japan to further develop the U.S.-Japan relationship on a program sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to meetings in Tokyo, the delegation, led by President Irene Hirano Inouye of the U.S.-Japan Council, will visit Tohoku to show support for the region devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Green Tech at VerdeXchange!
The VerdeXchange conference, convened in Los Angeles January 22-24, was joined by presenters from Japanese companies and government sectors. With a focus on best practices and technology solutions for the environment, Japan's approach on these issues and its continued technology leadership role generated much interest among U.S. regulators and California political and business leaders. Consul General Niimi hosted a kick-off reception for VIP participants and speakers which allowed for high value-added networking and displays of Japanese green technology.
