Japan Top Investor in Southern California - World Trade Center Los Angeles/LAEDC New Report
Foreign investment plays an important role in building and supporting American economic growth and prosperity, and in linking the United States to the rest of the world. This is particularly true in southern California, the gateway for about 40% of US cargo trade, and thousands of Foreign Owned Establishments. Once again, Japan tops the list of foreign investors in southern California, with 2,541 Establishments employing 85,874 people directly, at an estimated regional payroll of $5.35 billion per annum. Japanese Film Manbiki Kazoku Wins Palme d'Or at the Festival de Cannes
Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda took the top prize Palme d'Or at the 71st Festival de Cannes for his film Manbiki Kazoku (English title: Shoplifters). The film is about a family that shoplifts for survival amid poverty.

JAXA's Nano-Rocket Listed by Guiness as World's Smallest to Place Satellite in Orbit
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency announced April 27th that its SS520-5 has been recognized as the smallest orbital rocket by Guinness World Records. At only 9.6 meters height and 2.6 tons, the SS520-5 can fit into the nose cone of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy. Yet on February 3rd, Japan’s super-fast “nano rocket” successfully placed its cube satellite payload into orbit on its own power, with a three stage burn, and at a higher orbit than anticipated.
