About the Job
The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles has an opening for a full-time advisor in its Economic Section. The responsibilities of this section vary widely, but include facilitating government, trade, and business relations between Japan and the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
Researching and informing Consuls on current issues and events
Drafting and editing speeches, letters, and informative documents
Coordinating and managing multiple projects concurrently
Scheduling meetings and appointments
Responding to public inquiries
Handling various administrative and clerical tasks
Occasionally translating documents between Japanese and English
Handling other related tasks as needed
Current salary levels of our staff range from roughly $50,000 to $90,000 per year.
The salary of newly hired staff will be determined within this range based on their background of education, experience, skills, etc.
Requirements
Work authorization in the U.S (no visa support is available at this time)
A Bachelor’s degree with minimum 2-3 years in an office setting
Some work experience in either Japan or a Japanese speaking environment is preferred
Good knowledge or interest in Japanese culture
Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
Computer and website literacy, knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Fluency in Japanese acquired through formal education preferred
The ability to work as a cooperative member of the team

- Issues arising from investment in the United States by Japanese companies and the PMI (Post Merger Integration) process and what solutions you would propose.
- What kind of measures should the Japanese Government take to expand Japanese food products to the non-Japanese market in the United States?
