On February 3rd, a reception was held in Beverly Hills celebrating the “Culinary Treasures of Iwate” to promote agricultural products from Iwate Prefecture, and was attended by distributors, restaurateurs and related businesses.
Featured at the reception was Iwate’s famous “Wagyu Beef,” which has once again been certified for import into the US as of August 2012; as well as producers of Iwate’s premium rice and sake, which are also seeking new business opportunities overseas.
Iwate Prefecture’s Governor Tasso shared a word of appreciation for US support after the 3.11 disaster, gave a progress report on their reconstruction efforts, and provided an introduction to the agricultural products of the region.

The Beverly Hilton’s famed Executive Chef Sugiura created culinary offerings featuring Iwate Wagyu.  And in addition, rice, sake and Nanbu cast ironware were introduced to attendees.
