The Los Angeles Angels hosted Japan Day Presented by Japan Airlines on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the State College parking lot of Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. The event featured stage performances and booths presenting both traditional and modern aspects of Japan and Japanese culture.
Stage performances included taiko groups, martial arts demonstrations, cultural dances, a choir performance, a Japanese traditional music performance and a kimono fashion show. Baseball fans also gathered around the stage to catch one-on-one interviews with former pitcher Shigetoshi “Shiggy” Hasegawa and pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani.
Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles Akira Chiba delivered remarks on stage, thanking the Angels organization for hosting the Japan Day event, as well as Angels and Japan fans who came to the event to celebrate their love of baseball.
