On May 25, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles Harry H. Horinouchi appeared on KTTV FOX11 Good Day L.A. to discuss United States President Barack Obama’s highly-anticipated visit to Hiroshima following the Group of Seven nations summit that Japan chairs this year. Consul General responded to questions from Good Day L.A. anchors Steve Edwards and Araksya Karapetyan about what President Obama’s visit to Hiroshima on May 27 will mean for the people of Japan.

The first-ever visit to Hiroshima by a sitting U.S. president is very much appreciated and will send a strong message to the world about realizing a nuclear-free world, said Consul General. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and President Obama will visit Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park together, which will be “the moment to show the strength of the U.S.-Japan Alliance to the world,” emphasized Consul General.
