On September 22, 2016, longtime City of Alhambra Councilman Gary Yamauchi led a dedication ceremony for three cherry blossom trees planted at Alhambra City Hall.  The three trees symbolize the sister city relationship between Alhambra and Kirishima in Kagoshima Prefecture, Hiroshima for its role as a city promoting world peace, and Mr. Yamauchi’s three terms as councilman.

Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Shunsuke Takei who had been visiting the region from Tokyo attended the ceremony and delivered remarks.  Also in attendance were Consul General Chiba, Deputy Consul General Hayashi, and Consul Kikuma.
