Jurisdiction

The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles exclusively serves the state of Arizona and Southern California (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties).

The Embassy of Japan and each of the 16 Consulates General of Japan in the United States maintain specific jurisdictional areas. Organization

Consul General

Official representative of the Government of Japan in the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles. Click here to read Consul General's latest greeting.

Deputy Consul General

In charge of the running of the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles and coordination between each of its sections.

General Affairs & Political Section

Coordinates the operations of the Consulate. Monitors and researches the political situation in this jurisdiction, and follows matters related to the political aspects of the Japan - U.S. relationship, including relations with the Japanese American community.

Administrative Section

Coordinates the daily running of the Consulate General office.

Economic Section

Monitors and researches business developments in Southern California and Arizona as well as economic relations between Japan and Southern California and Arizona.

Information & Culture Section

Provides general information on Japan. Introduces Japanese culture to the people of this jurisdiction by implementing and assisting with various cultural events. Informs the media and the public of Japanese current affairs and the official policy of the Japanese Government. Implements the administration and selection process for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships and the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.

Consular & Visa Section

Protects the interests of Japanese residents and tourists. Issues and renews Japanese passports. Issues entry visas to Japan-bound visitors. Performs some notary and civil registration services.
