Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarships Education & Goverment Program

  The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) sponsors Japanese Government Scholarships to enable aspiring foreign scholars from all over the world to study in Japan. To date, some 65,000 students from approximately 160 countries and regions around the world have studied in Japan under the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship program established in 1954. As of May 1, 2005, there were 9,891 foreign students studying in Japan as Japanese government scholarship students. Japanese proficiency is not required at the time of application unless otherwise noted; however, scholarship recipients are required to take Japanese language classes in Japan.

  Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles accepts application for Japanese government scholarships from candidates who are the U.S. public and reside or attend universities in Southern California and Arizona. For our Information Brochure, please click here.

  Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles is now accepting the Applications for the Japanese Studies Scholarship (Click here for flyer!) and the Tearcher Training Scholarship for 2010. The application deadline is on March 12, 2010, and your completed application documents must be recieved by the Consulate office by then.

 

 


JAPANESE STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP
(undergraduate)

 Applicants must be from 18 to 30 years old. Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools which major in Japanese language or Japanese culture in a university outside Japan at the time when they come to Japan and must be enrolled in the home institution at the time when they return to their home countries.

Completed application must be recieved by March 12, 2010.
Exam/Interview is tentatively scheduled to be held on March 23 & 24, 2010.

TEACHER TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP

 You must be under 35 years of age and a graduate of a college or teacher training college. You must have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary, secondary or teacher training college in your country. (Please note that college and university teachers currently in active service are not considered for this scholarship).

Completed application must be recieved by March 12, 2010.
Exam/interview is tentatively scheduled to be held on March 23 & 24, 2010.
