Shochu Promotion Reception

On Aug. 3, 2017, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Los Angeles Office, and the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles jointly hosted a Shochu Promotion Reception at the Official Residence of Consul General Chiba. As a special guest, Miyazaki Prefecture Governor Shiunji Kouno joined this event.

With the goal of further popularization of Shochu in Los Angeles, this reception was organized in conjunction with the establishment of the “Shochu Export Promotion Council in LA”, which consists of government agencies, Japanese food trading companies, and experts. At the reception, guests from LA’s local restaurant industry and the press were invited, and they enjoyed pairings of Shochu and Japanese local cuisine prepared by the Japanese Consulate’s Chef Araki.
